"My goal is not only to provide you with the highest quality of orthodontic treatment but to also have a positive impact on your life during your time with us." - Nathan R. Hamman, DDS, MDS.
Nathan R. Hamman, DDS, MDS, is a remarkable orthodontist who genuinely cherishes the opportunity to connect with his patients during such a significant and transformative period in their lives. Dr. Hamman derives immense joy from witnessing children blossom into confident young adults, all while sporting radiant and healthy smiles.
Unlike other medical procedures that may be relatively brief, orthodontic transformations require time, allowing him to cultivate genuine relationships with each patient. This affords Dr. Hamman the chance to delve into their fascinating personalities, discovering what makes them truly unique individuals.
Dr. Hamman loves watching his patient’s self-confidence grow, along with how they feel about the world. They walk taller and straighter, they're more inclined to initiate a conversation, and they smile faster and easier, all because they feel better about their appearance. Dr. Nathan believes it's humbling to be a part of making that happen.
Dr. Hamman spent his undergraduate career at Austin Peay State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. From there, Dr. Hamman pursued a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He went on to earn his Master of Dental Science degree and a certificate of advanced training in orthodontics from the University of Tennessee Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Hamman has a firm foundation in orthodontics, but he still values the opportunity to expand his knowledge. He attends continuing education courses offered at meetings on the regional, state, and national levels.
Dr. Hamman teaches the current literature review course for the residents at the University of Tennessee Department of Orthodontics and is an instructor for the Charles Tweed Orthodontics Study Course, which is one of the top orthodontic courses in the world. Dr. Hamman also teaches one day a week at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, serves on the Southern Association of Orthodontists' scientific affairs committee, and is a former president of the Memphis Association of Orthodontists.
Through his studies and his work with residents, Dr. Hamman is constantly expanding his knowledge and skills, which enables him to serve his patients better.
Dr. Hamman is a board-certified orthodontist, a designation held by only 30% of orthodontists.
